The National Flood Data API includes the distance to the coastline, as shown in the map below, when the distance is less than 10 kilometers. While the Bodies of Water data component includes lakes, rivers and many waterways that open into the ocean, the coastline dataset contains only ocean coastline and large bays, such as Tampa Bay. The dataset used is provided by Natural Earth.
